The Harris Home for Children places an emphasis on academic achievement and one of the ways we do this is through the BOOST! Program. This rigorous after-school tutoring program meets Monday- Thursday from 4:30pm- 6:00pm to provide academic support in core subject areas for all middle and high school students.

Additionally, BOOST! offers ACT/SAT preparatory classes for high school juniors and seniors as they prepare for college and career readiness.  The Harris Home for Children has partnered with students from Alabama A&M University and The University of Alabama Huntsville, as well as current and former teachers, to provide high-quality tutoring to our residents.  Resources necessary for tutoring are provided by Huntsville City Schools. We want to say thank you to all who have invested in the future of our resident students!

Behavioral Aid Program
The Harris Home for Children works in collaboration with the Department of Human Resources to provide the Behavioral Aid Program. This program works with children of various ages who live in foster homes or DHR supervised homes. Services provided by our agency include transportation (in county and out of county) to appointments, supervised visits between biological parents and/or siblings and other extended family members, sitter service, parenting, crisis intervention and tutoring services. We provide highly qualified staff to work with families helping them improve family relations as well as working on social skills development.
