Without the support of the community, our mission at the Harris Home for Children would be impossible. The Friends of Harris Home is a program that allows organizations to partner with the Harris Home for Children in creating an environment and opportunities for our children to enjoy a normal childhood experience.

Typical relationships include financial support, in-kind services and donations, and helping hands to complete necessary campus projects.  In response, our organization and children seek to serve our community partners by giving back our time and talents to help those in need.  We thank you for your support and generosity!

Volunteer
The Harris Home for Children could not operate without our amazing team of volunteers who donate their time and skills to better our children and our community. Whether it is through tutoring, mentoring, providing a special meal, or merely sharing a warm hug and a smile, sharing your “gifts” with others will always bring a smile to your face.
Below you will find a list of volunteer opportunities that are typically available. If you find one of interest, please complete the information request form below.

• Tutor
At the Harris Home for Children our residents have a variety of academic needs. Some are studying high level course work and applying to college while others are studying to pass the GED or need help with remedial course work. Our study hour is held weekly Monday – Thursday from 4:30pm- 5:45pm.
If you are confident in your academic abilities and believe you can help adolescent students with middle or high school course work, GED prep, or to catch up on grade-level work, please contact Reginal McKenzie at RMcKenzie@harrishomeforchildren.org or complete the information request below.

• Mentor
Our Mentors work to develop connections, offer advice, and provide guidance to our residents. If you are interested in aiding young individuals in reaching their maximum potential through companionship and are able to commit to regularly visiting a resident at Harris Home over a consistent period of time, contact Reginal McKenzie at RMcKenzie@harrishomeforchildren.org for an application or complete the information request below.
